I get a lot of questions in the comments and emails about some the things I wear and use. A lot about my hats and jackets. This page is still under construction, I will add more later.
Hats

People commonly ask me about my hat. I wear a McDonald T hardhat. That company is no longer with us, but you can still find plenty of used ones.
I upgraded mine with modern suspension, which makes it more comfy. I think the old Mac T hardhats are no longer allowed by the safety people. Something about don’t meet safety standards blah blah blah.
There are still companies that make these classic wide brim hardhats that do a better job protecting your head. Since it is your head and all, it’s probably best to go with the modern ones. Maybe I should too.

This hat is a Stetson Gallatin. Stetson was out of stock the last time I tried to buy one from them. I found one on Amazon here. Now it looks like they are out of stock too. I see they have a black one here. Mine is sage, but now that I look at it, I like the looks of the black one too. Maybe I want a black one now too.
Jackets

A lot of people have asked me which jacket this is. It’s a Carhartt Bartlett model number J284 MOS. It’s been a good jacket, but this one is a bit big for me. If I get another one, I will try a smaller size. It’s starting to come unraveled at the edges and I would like it to be shorter. The lower part hanging down gets in the way sometimes. This one is Moss color. You can get them here: Washed Duck Bartlett Jacket.

This is a Levi’s jacket. It doesn’t look like they make them any more. Here is what’s on the label.

I mostly like it, but I don’t like how the left side always hangs lower than the right. And it’s starting to fall apart now that I have been wearing it a few years. That is typical of most of my clothes after I wear them a few years.
Footwear

The boots I’ve been wearing are White’s Linescouts. They’re OK, but when these finish wearing out, I’ll probably go with another brand. They’re not horrible, just not great.

These are my favorite socks. They’re made from merino wool in the USA, using wool from sheep raised here as well. I promoted these for a while, and some viewers have asked how they’ve held up. They’re still my favorite, and they’ve been holding up well.
I don’t wear them in the winter, they are too cold. But that’s why I like them for summer socks, they keep my feet cool and dry in warm and hot weather. I wear Costco merino wool socks in cool weather, they are warmer.
Camel City came out with some heavyweight socks for cold weather. I tried them and they had some problems, I didn’t like them. They discontinued those until they come up with a better version. But the regular ones are great, I look forward to wearing them again when we get into warm weather.
You can get Camel City Mill Socks Here. Use code WILSONFORESTLANDS
Here is a video I made about how I learned that camels don’t actually wear socks.

Logging Rigging
Viewers often ask me for links to where I get my cables, chokers, chains, blocks, etc. I don’t have links for those because I buy them from a local industrial supply shop.
The exception is my break away block. I got that through Northeast Implement. northeastimplement.com I had to call them and order it over the phone.
Here is a video I made going over the rigging I use.

Set Up a Simple Low Cost Log Yarding Operation
That’s an old video, I think a lot of viewers have not watched it. I get that impression because I often get asked to make a video like this one. Maybe I should make a new one and put all these items in a list here. That’s a good idea, maybe one day I will.
I still have a lot more items to add, but I will do that one day too. Just not this one day.
