Where is Wilson Forest Lands Located?
Most of my forest lands are located in secure undisclosed locations in Southwest Oregon. I also have property a few hours away at the coast.
Who Is Wilson Forest Lands?
I am Michael Wilson. You could call me Mike, but you run serious risk by doing so. My mom named me Michael, never to be called Mike. It doesn’t bother me much, but if she catches you calling me Mike, things could get ugly. Let’s just say, I warned you. More about that here:

Do you just wear the same shirt every day?
No, but I wear similar style shirts much of the time so it probably looks like I do. It makes it easier to edit when much of my footage has similar clothing.
Did Wilson Forest Lands inherit his forest land?
I have not inherited any land, money, or anything of significant value from anyone. I bought all my land. How did I do that? Through much hard work and sacrifice over a long period of time.
I have talked about how my family’s ranch (not mine) was passed down to family from my Great Great Grandfather. Because of that, some people think, that means all of my land must have came from the same source. Nope, none of it did.
Some viewers are confused. They don’t understand the ranch is a separate place in a different location from my properties where I do most of my videos. Hopefully this will deconfuse a few of them.
Did Wilson Forest Lands inherit his ranch?
As I have said in videos about the ranch, I did not inherit the ranch. The ranch does not belong to me. It belongs to my dad, uncles, cousins, a bunch of family who all have small shares. I may inherit a small percentage of it some day. But the owners plan to sell it before that ever happens. For me to get and keep the ranch, it will likely come down to me having to come up with a way to buy it.
Can I come work for you?
Viewers sometimes ask me if they can come work for me. Sometimes they offer to work for me for free just to learn. I am not set up for that. I am in remote places, I don’t have anywhere to house anyone. Liability is another concern. In a perfect world, having people come out to work could be a good thing, but I am not sure we are in that world.
Where did Wilson Forest Lands get his money?
What money?
How much land does Wilson Forest Lands own?
Acres and acres and acres of it. More acres than we cold count on all fingers and toes of several of us combined.
Why don’t you put a fence around the pool at the ranch to keep the cows out?
If the ranch was mine, I would. None of the family members who own the ranch use the pool. They’d rather have the cows keep the grass in the yard mowed. We used to have a fence to keep the cows out of the yard. But things aren’t the way they used to be for a very long story full of various reasons.
If the bears are such a problem why don’t you just shoot them?
One person is only allowed one bear tag per year. That wouldn’t have a significant impact on the 1000s of bears in the area. To take out more than that would be highly illegal. And if I did, do you think I would be announcing it on YouTube? Not that I am, or that I could do enough to make a significant impact if I did.
Why don’t you mill those logs/trees into lumber?
For those questions that get directed at the property where the sawmill is: I already have more lumber than I can use. I don’t have a good place to sell lumber from. Selling softwood lumber here where lumber is abundant is generally not very profitable. If I was to put the time into being in the lumber business, I wouldn’t have time to make videos.
For those questions that get directed at the coast property: I don’t have a mill there. It’s far far far away from where my mill is.
Why are you always walking at the ranch instead of riding a quad or side by side?
Because I don’t have one there. If the ranch was mine or if I knew the owners weren’t going to sell, I might think about getting one. And I’ve heard rumors, walking is good for us.
Why don’t you have X piece of equipment?
There are many types of equipment that would be nice to have. The general answer to that question is: Even though I might use it sometimes, I probably wouldn’t use it enough to justify getting one.
Why don’t you just use your tractor for that?
(A question usually directed at something I am doing at the coast property or ranch.)
Because the tractor isn’t there. It’s at my other property far far far away.
