You may hear mixed opinions about Oregon white oak firewood. Many people claim that it is worthless as firewood. But white oak is very high on the BTU charts, and it produces coals that last a long time. It does produce a lot of ash and can be messy, which is what I think a lot of people don’t like about it. Despite the ash and mess, I think it is an excellent firewood, but many would disagree. It does have a unique appearance with it’s whitish flaky bark and the moss that it is famous for growing. This makes it a beautiful wood for decorative firewood.
