I found some of the most beautiful spalted patterns in this alder log. I cut it into 8′ long 1×6 lumber. These book matched pieces would make a beautiful wall or furniture. Both pictures are of different ends of the same boards. The bottom half has less spalting, the top half becomes progressively more spalted.
